Process
Just as all other engineering ceramics, zirconia-based ceramics attain an assortment of properties by varying starting powders and fabrication techniques. Common ceramic consolidation techniques include dry pressing, iso-static pressing, extrusion, and tape casting, Over the past ten years techniques have advanced significantly to arrive at the position where high volumes of ceramic components can be made through injection molding process.

Injection Molding
Injection molding of ceramic components has several major benefits over more traditional manufacturing techniques.
- Cost effective tooling, some simple components can be made in multi-cavity tooling
- Relatively easy to maintain and/or modify tooling at low cost
- Capable of making simple geometric shapes as well as complex polygonal shapes
- Capable of making small diameter holes
- Capable of making internal or external threads
- Excellent alternative for parts that formerly has to be machined
